Richards and Gagne Panel Added to Event

LOS ANGELES – New Los Angeles Kings forwards Mike Richards and Simon Gagne will participate in the “Meet The New Kings” speaker series at next month’s LA Kings Hockey Fest ’11, the first speaker series to be announced for the event which takes place on Sunday, September 11, at STAPLES Center.  

In “Meet The New Kings, Gagne and Richards will take questions from fans as they participate in their first public event with their new team.

Tickets for the third annual event are available for purchase by calling 1-888-KINGS-LA and by visiting lakings.com/hockeyfest.  LA Kings Hockey Fest presented by Pizza Hut will feature special Q&A and autograph sessions with Kings players, coaches, alumni and hockey dignitaries, in addition to Kings merchandise and hockey memorabilia being available.

The one-day Hockey Fest event takes place from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Richards was acquired by the Kings from the Philadelphia Flyers on June 23.  Richards is a two-time 30-goal scorer who has averaged 28 goals, 42 assists and 70 points over the last four seasons while playing in an average of 78 regular season games per year.  He has also during that time played in 57 total playoff games while helping lead Philadelphia to the Stanley Cup Finals in 2010.  During that playoff run he recorded 23 points in 23 playoff games.

Gagne signed as a free agent with the Kings on July.  He has scored as many as 47 goals in a season (2005-06) and he has also had seasons of 41 goals (2006-07), 34 goals (2008-09) and 33 goals (2001-02) in his career.  He has scored at least 20 goals in a season on seven occasions and he has scored 17 goals each of the last two seasons while averaging 60 games played.  He has registered 70-plus points on two occasions, including the 2008-09 season when he recorded a career-high 40 assists.

Gagne and Richards played together in Philadelphia for several seasons.
