Kings Acquire F Colin Fraser and a 2012 7th-Round Pick in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft from the Oilers for F Ryan Smyth

Fraser, 26, played in 67 games this past season with the Oilers. He recorded five points (3-2=5) and 60 penalty minutes. It was his first season in Edmonton after spending the previous four campaigns with Chicago, including the 2009-10 season when the Blackhawks won the Stanley Cup and Fraser recorded career-highs in goals (seven), assists (12) and points (19).
A 6-1, 193-pound native of Sicamous, British Columbia, Fraser has played in 224 career NHL regular season games. He has 41 points (16-25=41) and 168 penalty minutes. He has also played in five career NHL postseason contests. He was originally selected by Philadelphia in the third-round (69th overall) of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft
Smyth, 35, played in 82 regular season games with the Kings this past season, recording 47 points (23-24=47) and 35 penalty minutes. He recorded two consecutive 20-plus goal seasons, 100 total points (45-55=100) and 77 penalty minutes in 149 career regular season games with the Kings. Smyth also became the 17th Kings player and the 257th player overall to appear in 1,000 NHL games when he suited up for the Kings versus Nashville on November 6, 2010.
Smyth has played in 1,069 career regular season games with the Kings, Colorado, New York Islanders and Edmonton, and has 760 points (355-405=760) and 810 penalty minutes. He was acquired by the Kings from the Avalanche for defenseman Kyle Quincey, defenseman Tom Preissing and a fifth-round selection in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.
