KINGS HEAD COACH TERRY MURRAY:
(Re game recap): “The guys played hard today.  It was a good game.  I liked everything that was going on.  Right from the very start of the game there was a playoff-like atmosphere, the building was alive, and both teams came to compete hard.  I thought we had an excellent third period, but we just couldn’t find a way to finish at the end of the day.  It was unfortunate but we’re going to build off this, there were a lot of nice things that happened.”

(Re Ponikarovsky disallowed goal): “From my view I thought it was a good goal, I see their defenseman pushing Poni [Alexei Ponikarovsky] from behind, so it depends where you are on the ice I guess to get a look at it…but that’s the way it goes, but we battled, we got the game tied up and got ourselves into a situation where we could have won it in overtime, and it didn’t work.  But again I like everything that was going on with our team.”

(Re Brown goal): “Brownie [Dustin Brown] just found himself in the right position, he goes around behind the net, kind of gets hidden from the defenseman and parks himself off the weak-side, but a great play by Poni [Ponikarovsky] and Zues [Handzus], that’s a play that Handzus has made in the past…it was a great play.”

KINGS GOALIE JONATHAN QUICK:
(Re Calgary): “They’re a good team [Calgary], a strong team.  They have a lot of talent.  We’re going to have to bring our best game if we’re going to get two points out of it.”

(Re Ducks Rivalry): “Yeah I mean I feel like ever since I came here there’s always been a playoff-like atmosphere every time we’ve played them no matter what time of the year it was.  It’s fun hockey to play but unfortunately it’s not the outcome we wanted.”

KINGS DEFENSEMAN WILLIE MITCHELL:
(Re game recap):  “We played really well tonight.  We had a bad bounce on the first goal and just couldn’t beat [Ray] Emery.  We played exactly how we want to play.  If we play like that, more times than not, we’ll get the results we want.  We get a point, lost in OT against a team we obviously would like to win against in regulation to put a bigger gap between us.  With that being said, I was really proud of the group and the guys and how we responded after the last game.”

(Re Calgary): “It seems like everyone is playing each other right now.  Everyone wants to scoreboard watch, there’s no doubt about it, it’s just instinct.  We really have to worry about our preparation and our focus, our process, the things that we do well.  If we keep doing the things that we did tonight I like our chances to get in here.”

ANAHEIM HEAD COACH RANDY CARLYLE:
(Re game recap): “We knew the game would be exciting and it was every bit of that. Obviously with the points that are up for grabs and the rivalry that’s been developing over the years, it was an excellent hockey game from our stand point because we got the extra point.”

(Re Emery): “He gave us NHL quality goaltending and that’s what you ask for from your goaltender, to give your team a chance in the game. He stood tall, he with stood some barrages and made some big stops from a positional standpoint. He didn’t get rattled and he battled for our hockey club.”

“It’ll be a challenge for our team to play against an energized Calgary Flames hockey club.”

ANAHEIM DEFENSEMAN CAM FOWLER:
(Re game recap): “At this stage in the season we can’t afford to drop any games. It’s tough to give up one point to win two but there’s’ worse things, we could be walking out of here without any. We’ll take the win and just move on from here.”

(Re Calgary) “I think we draw up a good game plan for them and we understand their tendencies. I think if we’re able to make some plays and break their force-heck then we’ll have success. It’s another big one tomorrow and we just got to recover tonight and make sure we’re ready to go.”

ANAHEIM GOALTENDER RAY EMERY:
(Re game recap): “We battled tonight and we have another one tomorrow so it was a huge relief when Perry scored the goal.”

“It’s a fun time of the year to play, it’s easy to get up for the games. We realize one day you’re in eighth and the next day your 10th, then back into eighth. It’s a battle all the time and it’s fun to be in this position.”
