KINGS HEAD COACH TERRY MURRAY:
(Re game recap): “That was a good game.  That was a good performance by everybody tonight. There was a lot of compete, a lot of skating.  We’re thinking the game out there, and the support, the communication on the ice was as good as it’s been all year.  And that’s against a very good hockey club…that is, in fact, the best team in the National Hockey League in the third period.  Their plus-minus is by far the best and you can see why, because they just stay with it…but we checked, we were very responsible without the puck tonight and our goaltender was outstanding.”

(Re early power-play goal): “It really helps against a team that’s a good hockey club like that. They’ve got the number one goaltender save percentage and goals-against average in the league.  If you can get one in early on them it’s really important for your team, it puts more pressure on them obviously.”

(Re momentum): “We just had a tough time. We hope we’ve climbed out of some of the issues we were dealing with and that we can keep it going. I really like our last two efforts in the early part of games, the first period in particular at Phoenix, now here again tonight.  We just have to keep building on it.”

KINGS FORWARD RYAN SMYTH:
(Re winning two in a row): “This game is not only about mistakes - least amount of mistakes wins, - but gaining some confidence as you go, and when you put a string of wins together it gives a boost for the hockey club.”

(Re playing a complete game): “Just doing the little things right, capitalizing on the special teams. You know, Quickie [Jonathan Quick] played outstanding, gave us a chance, made some spectacular saves tonight, which… you know, sometimes you get pinned back and you get hemmed in your own zone. He rectified that and settled things down for us.”

KINGS DEFENSEMAN MATT GREENE:
(Re game recap):  “It’s just like anything, when you have success you’re going to be more confident. You know, that game in Phoenix, sloppy as it was at times, I think it brought, you know, just getting that win, puts a lot of guys at ease, lets the guys relax a little bit.  Gives us faith in the system that it is going to work if we do it the right way. Tonight was a clear example of that.”

(Re Quick finally getting rewarded): “I think he’s been unbelievable for us all year, our goaltending’s been solid the entire year. [Not] getting rewarded, with us not scoring goals - that’s about it. But yeah, he’s been keeping us in every game and he’s been doing that since he got here.”

BOSTON HEAD COACH CLAUDE JULIEN:

(Re game recap): “I didn’t think we generated as much offense as we normally do. Give the other team credit for that because they did a good job minimizing that. We didn’t get too many screens or traffic in front of Quick.”

“I think right now we need some guys to step up and start scoring some goals for us and not always rely on the same people all the time. At one point you can get away with it so long but there are some guys who have been dry for awhile and we need them to step up.”

“Right now we’re a team that focuses a lot on our game and what we need to bring every night and most of the time it works well for us. Tonight you got to give credit, they played well defensively. We’ve been scoring a lot lately and they played us well. Big saves by the goaltender, some good blocked shots at the right time, and they played well defensively. From my end of it I’m telling our guys that we didn’t work hard enough to create scoring chances.”

BOSTON DEFENSMAN ZDENO CHARA:
(Re game recap): “One thing they like to do is put the puck on the net. They were doing a pretty good job tonight cycling the puck down low. Any chance to put the puck on the net, they did. They got an early one and then we had some chances throughout the whole game and we didn’t capitalize. We were one or two steps behind where we should have been. It was one of those games where we should have been better and been more emotionally attached. They worked harder than we did tonight and they deserved to win.”

(Re Quick) “He made some big saves. At times we had open nets and couldn’t bury it. The crucial times of the game he was able to make the saves for them.”

BOSTON GOALIE TIM THOMAS:
(Re game recap): “They did the things you need to do to score, they got in front of the net and screened and got rebounds and tips. We tried to get some offense but we tried to do it in a different way. Sometimes you need to get the dirty goals.”

(Re Quick) “He was good. He always seems to play a good game against me. I don’t know if he gets his rivalry juices up but having said that they scored both their goals on the doorstep. I can’t remember a doorstep chance that we got off a rebound or a puck laying there. The chances were there but we weren’t there.”
