Kings Announce Community Initiatives to Take Place in December
LOS ANGELES – The Kings Community Relations Department in conjunction with the Kings Care Foundation have announced the following initiatives that will take place during the month of December.

Toy Drive – Dec. 2, 4, 9 and 11
To kick off the holiday season, the Kings will host their annual toy drive at STAPLES Center starting tomorrow (Thursday) as part of the Kings-Florida game. The toy drive will continue on Dec. 4, 9, and 11th.  Volunteers will be accepting new, unwrapped toys at each STAPLES Center entrance prior to each of these games. Proceeds will benefit local youth based organizations, including Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, City of Hope, 1736 Family Crisis Center, Child Abuse Prevention Center, Violence Intervention Program and Central City Action Committee Friends & Helpers.  Fans who make a donation will have the opportunity to win prizes, including a team-signed stick, and more.

Adopt-A-Family – Dec. 5
This year's annual Adopt-A-Family event with the Child Abuse Prevention Center will take place on Sunday at the Toyota Sports Center in El Segundo.  Kings players and staff will be on-hand to meet and present the families with gifts and serve lunch.  Families will also be invited to skate on the ice.

The Child Abuse Prevention Center directly serves at-risk children and families in crisis to prevent and break the generational cycle of child abuse. Their goals are accomplished by matching families at risk of child abuse with professional social workers to work with them in their homes. The goal of the intervention is to replace old patterns of abuse with nurturing parenting styles, as well as to empower parents to become financially self-sufficient.

Kings 4 Kids Night, Benefiting Children’s Cancer Research Fund – Dec. 9
On Thursday, Dec. 9 as part of the Kings-Calgary game, the Kings will host a special silent auction benefiting Children's Cancer Research Fund and their mission to fight childhood cancer. Kings players and their wives have decorated pet T-shirts that will be auctioned off that evening at STAPLES Center. All proceeds will benefit CCRF.

Through generous donations from LA Kings fans, CCRF and the LA Kings will host more than 100 underprivileged families stricken with children’s cancer to the game on Dec. 9.  For more information, visit www.ccrf-kids.org.

Kings Care Booth
Back by popular demand, the Kings will once again be selling Kings Holiday Ornaments at STAPLES Center starting tomorrow (Thursday) as part of the Kings-Florida game.  The ornaments will feature the vintage Kings logo.  Signed ornaments will be $25 and blank ones will be $15. The featured players for each game will be announced on Facebook and Twitter the day before the game.
