LAKings.com To Provide Draft Coverage
LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Kings and the club’s official website, LAKings.com, will begin their pre-draft coverage of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft tomorrow, Friday, the team announced today. LAKings.com/draft10 will provide comprehensive coverage of the draft which takes place June 25-26 at STAPLES Center.

Beginning June 18, LAKings.com will feature new, original content daily (see schedule below) through the final player selection of the seventh round. The Kings will also be able to cover the draft like never before with the prestigious event taking place in Los Angeles for the first time, and fans can check back at LAKings.com/draft10 beginning tomorrow and throughout the next 10 days and the coming weeks for all draft-related Kings coverage.

Kings Vision host Heidi Androl will help spearhead the club’s video coverage from the Toyota Sports Center (TSC) in El Segundo leading up to the draft, and from STAPLES Center, the site of the draft. Kings broadcasters Daryl Evans and Jim Fox will also be contributing video interviews for Kings Vision from STAPLES Center.

Kings Vision will also stream live the Commissioner’s Brunch on Friday, June 25, from 10 a.m. – Noon from the JW Marriott hotel at L.A. Live. The panel will feature NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman, AEG President and CEO/Kings Governor Tim Leiweke, Kings President, Business Operations Luc Robitaille and President/Chief Executive Officer – Hockey Canada Bob Nicholson. The event is presented by the Consulate General of Canada, FedEx and University of Phoenix.

LAKings.com/draft10 will also feature written coverage of the draft, led by Rich Hammond of LAKingsInsider.com, and numerous podcasts. In addition, for the second straight year the Kings will be tweeting directly from the Draft. Check out special “tweets” as the club holds pre-draft scouting meetings and also follow Kings tweets directly from the Draft floor both days of the draft. LAKings.com/draft10 will also feature six special Kings Draft Trivia segments, photo gallery’s from previous drafts and Kings draft-related wallpapers.

Kings fans are also encouraged to give their opinion on the draft by visiting the Hockeywood, L.A. section of LAKings.com. Hockeywood, L.A. is the on-line social network community for Kings fans where they can upload their favorite videos, photos and blogs while interacting with other Kings fans on LAKings.com’s message board, which is also part of Hockeywood, L.A.

Kings Vision will also next week post video interviews on “What the Draft Means to LA” featuring Dustin Brown, Anze Kopitar, Rob Scuderi, Jack Johnson and Drew Doughty, and “Draft Day Memories” featuring Brown, Kopitar, Matt Greene, Johnson, Wayne Simmonds, Jonathan Quick and Oscar Moller.

The Kings currently hold the 19th overall selection, two selections in the second round, two selections in the third round and one selection in rounds four-through-seven.

The NHL Trophies – including the Stanley Cup – will be on display at STAPLES Center in the Budweiser Lounge (formerly known as the Royal Room) on Friday, June 25, prior to the start of the first round of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.

All fans with a ticket can view and take photos with the Stanley Cup and the NHL Trophies from 2 – 3:30 p.m. as doors to the arena open at 2 p.m. Fans can begin entering the seating areas at STAPLES Center for the Draft beginning at 3 p.m.

Also on Friday fans are invited to participate in the NHL Draft Festival at L.A. Live Plaza. Open to the public from Noon – 9 p.m., the event will consist of partner tents, games and hockey inflatable’s, radio partners doing live broadcasts and the AB Beer Garden.
