Bernier, 21, stopped 29-of-30 shots and stopped all six shots in the shootout in the Kings 2-1 win at Dallas on Friday night. He has played in 50 games with the Monarchs, recording a 26-18-5 record, a 2.08 goals-against-average, a .937 save percentage and eight shutouts.
Among AHL goaltenders, Bernier’s 26 wins are ranked fifth, his eight shutouts are ranked first, his 2.08 goals-against-average is ranked third and his .937 save percentage is ranked first. In addition, his 2,941 minutes played are second in the league and he leads the AHL in saves with 1,517 saves and in shots faced with 1,619 while also serving as the starting goaltender for Team Canada at the 2010 Time Warner Cable AHL All-Star Classic.
Selected by the Kings in the first-round (11th overall) in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft, Bernier played in four games with the Kings in 2007-08, recording a 1-3-0 record and a 4.03 goals-against-average.
The 5-11, 184-pound Bernier is a native of Laval, Quebec.
