Kings Recall Elkins
Corey Elkins
The Los Angeles Kings have recalled (emergency re-call) forward Corey Elkins from the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League, Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced today.

Elkins, 24, is currently Manchester’s co-leader with 19 points and eight goals (8-11=19). He also shares the team lead with three power-play goals. Elkins’ 19 points is also tied for eighth in the AHL among rookies, while his eight goals are tied for fifth among AHL freshman.

The 6-3, 216-pound native of West Bloomfield, Mich spent the previous four years at Ohio State. Last season, his senior year, Elkins recorded 41 points (18-23=41) in 42 games. His 41 points and 18 goals led Ohio State and his plus-24 rating co-led the team.

Elkins, yet to play in the NHL, was signed by the Kings as an unrestricted free agent on March 31, 2009. He will wear No. 47 with the Kings.

The Kings, winners of four straight and currently leading the Western Conference, begin their three-game road trip of Western Canada tonight, Monday, in Vancouver with a 7 p.m. contest against the Canucks at GM Place. The Kings will play in Edmonton tomorrow and Calgary on Thursday (both at 6:30 p.m. PT). All three games of the road trip will be broadcast on KTLK AM 1150 and along the Kings Radio Network.
