The Kings were not all smiles after their loss vs. Nashville on Saturday.

On Sunday, the Kings did not skate, instead the players went through their off-ice workouts before boarding a 12 p.m. flight for Chicago.

The Kings will begin a five-game, eight-day road trip through Chicago, Carolina, Atlanta, Tampa Bay and finally Florida before returning home on Tuesday, Nov. 17.

The Kings are 5-3-1 on the road. Their five road wins rank tied for fifth in the NHL behind New Jersey (8), Pittsburgh and San Jose (7), and Colorado (6). Atlanta, Washington, Phoenix and Columbus also have five road wins on the young season.

ALL GOOD THINGS…
On Saturday, the Kings 3-1 loss to the Nashville Predators snapped an eight-game point streak in which the Kings went 6-0-2, which tied for the fifth longest point streak in club history. The last time the Kings had earned points in eight straight games was Nov. 2-18, 2000, also a 6-0-2 run. The last nine-game streak, which the team was unable to match, was Oct. 16-Nov. 5, 1980, an 8-0-1 mark.

"It’s just about working, we didn’t have enough guys or very many guys at all working consistently today and that showed," Kings captain Dustin Brown said of the loss. "We didn’t have a lot of energy and we didn’t make a lot of plays. It’s really just taking accountability individually and preparing yourself to play. That’s something that everyone kind of has to look at themselves in the mirror tonight to realize and learn from. I think as a team when you prepare yourself right collectively as a team it becomes a lot easier."

Looking back on the Kings eight-game stretch, Los Angeles out-scored its opponents 32-19 during the stretch, including 12-2 in third period during the last six games of the streak and 13-5 in the final stanza during the entire eight-game point streak. For comparison, they gave up two goals alone in the loss against Nashville.

The Kings won the majority of faceoffs in six of the eight games during the stretch, but lost 29-of-47 vs. Nashville on Saturday. On the PK, the Kings killed off 24 of 27 penalties during the eight-game streak (88.9%), but killed off just 2-of-3 vs. Nashville on Saturday.

In case you were wondering, the longest point streak in club history is 11 games: Feb. 28 – Mar. 24, 1974 (9-0-2).

STILL A GOOD START
Despite the loss on Saturday, the Kings still have a 10-5-2 record for 22 points, the seventh-best start in franchise history.

SPEAKING OF STREAKS
The Manchester Monarchs, the Kings AHL affiliate, also had an impressive streak snapped on Saturday, falling 4-1 to the Hershey Bears, giving the Monarchs their first loss of the season on home ice, snapping a 6-0-0 start.
