LAKings.com has selected our favorite plays of the week from Oct. 12-18.
The Kings went 1-3-0 in the four games during the week to bring their record to 2-3-0 during the first five games of a six-game road trip.
The Kings defeated the Islanders, 2-1 on Oct. 12, then lost 4-2 and 5-2 to Rangers and Red Wings in a tough back-to-back on Oct. 14-15. The Kings then fell 4-1 to the Columbus Blue Jackets on Oct. 17.
KOPI GOES TOP SHELF With time winding down on the Kings' power play, Anze Kopitar takes the puck from behind the Islanders' goal, feeds the it to Justin Williams, who gives it right back to Kopitar who goes top shelf against New York goaltender Martin Biron for an early 1-0 lead.
DOUGHTY PLAYING TOUGH
One game after suffering significant dental damage in the prior game against St. Louis, a hard-charging Drew Doughty takes a pass from Jarret Stoll and fires a slap-shot past New York goaltender Martin Biron for a 2-0 Kings lead.
BROWN CLEANS UP
After Jarret Stoll wins a face-off in Detroit's defensive zone, Kings' captain Dustin Brown gives the Kings an early 1-0 lead over the Red Wings with a nifty back-handed goal off a rebound from a Matt Greene shot.
WHAT CAN BROWN DO FOR YOU?
What he can do is maintain enough focus to score even after taking a hit. After almost allowing a short-handed goal to the Columbus Blue Jackets, Dustin Brown scores the Kings' lone goal of the game with a shot between Columbus goaltender Steve Mason's legs while taking a huge hit.
QUICKER THAN NASH
With the Kings on the power play, goaltender Jonathan Quick keeps it a scoreless game in the first period with a terrific save with his right pad on a driving shot by Columbus' Rick Nash.
