Kings Claim Jones
Jones, 28, has played in six games this season with the Adirondack Phantoms of the American Hockey League, recording one point (an assist) and six penalty minutes.
"He’s a player who plays in all situations," Kings head coach Terry Murray said to the media following the team's morning skate on Thursday. "He can play on your power play. He’s a good penalty-kill defending player. He’s a pretty good all-around player, so when he does get into the lineup, there won’t be any hesitation in any one of those situations.”
Last season, Jones played in 47 games with the Philadelphia Flyers, recording eight points (4-4=8) and 22 penalty minutes. He also played in six playoff games with the Flyers and he played in two regular season games with the Phantoms.
The 6-2, 200-pound native of Quispamsis, New Brunswick, has been in the Philadelphia organization the last seven years. In 217 career regular season NHL games, he has 69 points (13-56=69) and 134 penalty minutes. He also has appeared in 22 career playoff games with the Flyers, recording three points (all assists) and four penalty minutes.
