WOLF PACK STRIKE BACK, FORCE GAME 7
Manchester (43-30-3-4, 93 points) finished the regular season in third place in the Atlantic Division. Hartford (48-24-2-6, 104 points) ended the regular season in second place in the Atlantic Division.
Right wing Colby Genoway started the scoring when he collected his team leading ninth point of the series at 8:48 of the first period. Hartford was pressuring the Monarchs deep in the home team's territory when the puck scooted loose to left wing Nigel Dawes in the corner. Dawes fed it out front to Genoway who one-timed it past Monarchs goaltender Adam Hauser's blocker. Center Brandon Dubinsky also assisted on the goal.
The Wolf Pack took a 2-0 lead at 12:46 of the first period on right wing Greg Moore's first goal of the playoffs. Center Alexandre Giroux picked up the loose puck and carried it around the net for a wrap-around attempt that was saved by Hauser. Moore picked up the rebound and fired it over Hauser's glove to go up by two tallies. Left wing Martin Sonnenberg also assisted on the goal.
The Monarchs cut the lead to 2-1 at 8:42 of the second period on right wing Alexandre Daigle's fourth goal of the playoffs for his league leading 11th point. Left wing Noah Clarke stole the puck from a Wolf Pack defenseman at the right face-off circle in the offensive zone. Clarke then fed it over to Daigle who rifled a shot top-shelf. over Holt's glove.
The Wolf Pack regained their two-goal lead at 11:49 of the second period on left wing Chad Wiseman's second tally of the playoffs. Wolf Pack defensemen Craig Weller stole the puck in the neutral zone and fed it up ice to former Monarchs right wing Brad Smyth who skated into the Monarch zone on a two-on-one breakaway with Wiseman. Smyth skated down the right side and fed a pass between Monarchs defenseman Brad Fast's legs to Wiseman who snapped a shot over Hauser.
Hauser (1-1) took the loss stopping 29 shots. Holt (1-0) earned the victory and star of the game with 29 saves.
Manchester went 0-for-4 on the power play. Hartford was 0-for-7 with the man advantage.
Game seven of the Atlantic Division Semifinal Series "B" will take place on Saturday, April 29 at 7:00 p.m. at the Hartford Civic Center.
