It sure felt great to win our last two games before the break. We wanted to get back to the way we've played hockey most of the season, and we did just that against Dallas and Chicago. That Dallas win, in particular, was really good for our peace of mind, knowing that we still have it in us to play well and that we don't have to worry about a losing streak any longer.

I've never had an extended break like this during the season before. Usually it's a couple of days off for an all-star break and then back to playing hockey. It's kind of different this year, but I do know I have to stay on top of things and stay in shape. That's something I worry about because everybody on every team is getting ready for the stretch run, preparing for when NHL hockey returns next month.

I plan to take a short trip here or there during the break, but I'm also going to work out every morning. It will be tough to get ice time during the break, but I have to stay in shape some how so if I can't get ice, I'll go to the gym. I've got a few good friends who coach hockey teams locally, so the plan right now is to jump on the ice with them for their practices. I'll get my ice that way.

This is my first year, but I think the mentality for the last 22 games of the season will be to leave everything on the table. I grew up watching the intensity of the NHL playoffs on TV and it was just awe inspiring. I can't wait to experience that for myself. I'm really looking forward to it. But before we can think about the playoffs, we've still got the regular season to worry about.
