KINGS ASSIGN RYAN, PETIOT TO MANCHESTER
LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Kings have assigned center Matt Ryan and defenseman Richard Petiot to the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League, Kings President, Hockey Operations/General Manager Dave Taylor announced.

Ryan, 22, has played in 12 games with the Kings this season, his first with the club, and has one point (an assist) and two penalty minutes. In 32 games with the Monarchs this season, the 5-11, 182-pound native of Sharon, Ontario, has 11 points (4-7=11), 44 penalty minutes and a plus-minus rating of plus-four. Signed by the Kings as a free agent on August 2, 2004, Ryan was recalled by the Kings on December 31 and made his Kings/NHL debut that night at Dallas.

Petiot, 23, has played in two games with the Kings this season, his first with the club, and has zero points and two penalty minutes. With Manchester this season, Petiot has eight points (3-5=8), 28 penalty minutes and a plus-11 rating in 33 games. The 6-3, 200-pound native of Daysland, Alberta, was originally selected by the Kings in the fourth-round (116th overall) of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft. He made his Kings/NHL debut on January 17 versus Tampa Bay.
