Cowan, 29, has missed the club's last 13 games after being placed on the injured reserve list with a strained hamstring on December 19 (retroactive to December 11). He was injured on December 10 in a game against Florida, and in 20 games with the Kings this season, the 6-2, 205-pound native of Scarborough, Ontario, has six points (5-1=6) and 24 penalty minutes.
Acquired by the Kings from the Atlanta Thrashers on March 9, 2004, for Kip Brennan, Cowan has 65 points (37-28=65) and 411 penalty minutes in 278 career NHL regular season games with the Kings, Thrashers and Calgary Flames.
Brown, 21, suffered the injury during the Kings-Dallas game on January 2. He has missed the club's last two games, and in 42 games with the Kings this season, he has 16 points (7-9=16) and 45 penalty minutes.
A 6-0, 200-pound native of Ithaca, New York, Brown was originally selected by the Kings in the first-round (13th overall) in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. In 73 career NHL regular season games, all with the Kings, he has 21 points (8-13=21) and 61 penalty minutes.
