ROYALS NOTCH FIRST WIN IN LONG BEACH, CA
Long Beach, CA – The Reading Royals (19-6-2=40) scored on their first shot and battled through road fatigue and a short bench to pull out a victory in the team's first trip in history to the Long Beach Arena by defeating the Ice Dogs, 6-2. Goaltender Yutaka Fukufuji made forty stops, and the Royals scored two short-handed goals to build a two goal lead heading into the third period (at 4-2). The Royals then avenged the loss to the Ice Dogs back at the Sovereign Center on December 11, when the Ice Dogs mounted a third period comeback to beat Reading, by playing a solid and smart third period to hold off the Ice Dog attack and add a couple of insurance goals to nail down the win.
