LOS ANGELES – Los Angeles Kings right wing Valeri Bure underwent successful surgery Friday to alleviate lower back pain, Kings President, Hockey Operations/General Manager Dave Taylor announced today.
Bure, 31, is expected to miss at least eight weeks. He is scheduled to begin his rehabilitation in approximately 10 days. The surgical procedure was performed by back surgeon Robert Watkins.
Bure has not played a regular season game for the Kings this season after signing with the club as a free agent on August 12. In 621 career NHL regular season games with Dallas, Florida, St. Louis, Calgary and Montreal, the 5-11, 180-pound native of Moscow, Russia, has 400 points (174-226=400) and 221 penalty minutes.
