ABOUT TOMMY NAST
Tommy Nast, a veteran of the entertainment industry and a hockey aficionado, hosts FACEWASH, an interactive post-game talk show heard exclusively on LAKings.com after Kings road games. Hockey fans can tune into the show after radio coverage on KTLK AM 1150 concludes, and they can call 310-535-4442 with their comments or questions during the show.
Since childhood, and throughout Nast’s diverse career in the entertainment industry, his undying love and passion for the game of hockey has never wavered. Coincidentally, growing up in Rochester, N.Y., Nast worked side by side on the air at WBBF with Kings’ radio play-by-play announcer Nick Nickson, as the two first entered the broadcast business in the early 70’s. Nast’s illustrious career in the worlds of music and radio is, perhaps, most well known for his work producing and hosting hundreds of Rock Radio music specials, and over the years he’s worked with artists like Van Halen, Guns N’ Roses, Aerosmith, Don Henley and Bruce Springsteen.
Despite his success in the world of music, his love for and knowledge of hockey has always remained front and center. In fact, during the 1998-99 season, Nast debuted and hosted Southern California’s first hockey-exclusive talk radio program, “The Big Puckin’ Hockey Show,” on what was then known as XTRA Sports AM 1150, and the show enjoyed a successful two season run. During that same time span, Nast also appeared regularly on the popular “Mason & Ireland” morning show that was televised on Fox Sports Net, where weekly he presented his personal take on the sport of hockey, delivered with credibility and a twist of humor.
Over the years, Nast’s “Hockey Talk” was also featured on The Mighty 1090 in San Diego, as well as on 97.1 here in Los Angeles.
An avid amateur hockey player himself, Nast has also been involved in youth hockey in Southern California for the past six years, and is currently the team manager for the SoCal Titans Pee Wee AA team, based in Simi Valley, where his son, Nicky, is a goaltender under the tutelage of former King and NHL great Russ Courtnall.
As a Kings season ticket holder for 25 years, Nast has witnessed first-hand the amazing roller coaster ride the Kings organization has experienced, and he believes the future looks amazingly bright. He is both pleased and honored to be named as host of FACEWASH and looks forward to interacting regularly with avid Kings fans, and admirers of the game, in general.
