Plays of the Week Dec. 1-7

The nominees are Dustin Brown and his acrobatic tip-in vs. St. Louis on Thursday, the first goal of his first career hat trick; Kopitar's amazing second effort later that game; rookie (should we even call him a rookie anymore?) defenseman Drew Doughty and his goal-saving play vs. the Wild; Erik Ersberg's point-blank save vs. Minnesota and finally Patrick O'Sullivan and Denis Gauthier's one-two punch vs. the Blues.
BROWNIE GOES FIVE HOLE
With the Kings on the power play holding a 1-0 lead, Kings defenseman Kyle Quincey put a shot on net from the point that got through the St. Louis defense. Dustin Brown made an athletic move, deflecting the puck between his legs and into the net past St. Louis's Chris Mason. It was the first of three goals - his first career hat trick - for the Kings captain.
KOPITAR'S SECOND EFFORT
Anze Kopitar scores a "goal scorers goal," as the All-Star center collects the puck at center ice, weaves around defenseman Carlo Colaiacovo of St. Louis with the curl and drag move and puts a shot on net that 6-7 goalie Ben Bishop initially saves. Kopitar puts in a great second effort and puts the puck in the net with one hand.
THE D IN DOUGHTY
Erik Ersberg makes a save on a slapper from Blues defenseman Jeff Woywitka, with the rebound landing to the left of Ersberg. St. Louis Blues forward Brad Boyes had an open cage and put a shot on net, but a diving Drew Doughty blocked the shot and prevented the goal to pick up his netminder.
ERSBERG NOT PHASED BY ODD BOUNCE
On a long pass from the Minnesota zone, the puck takes an odd bounce off of the boards and lands right in front of Erik Ersberg and a hard-charging Pierre-Marc Bouchard. Ersberg gets himself into excellent position and stones Bouchard to protect a 1-0 lead.
I SEE WHAT YOU CAN DO...
First Patrick O'Sullivan dumps Yan Stastny to the ground as he advances the puck into the Kings zone and seconds later, Denis Gauthier nails Cam Paddock, drawing the attention of an angry St. Louis Blues team.
