KINGS SIGN FORWARD TOM KOSTOPOULOS TO TWO-YEAR DEAL
Kostopoulos, 26, played in 64 games this past season with the Manchester Monarchs, the Kings' American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, after he signed a one-year contract with Manchester on July 9, 2004. With the Monarchs, the 6-0, 205-pound native of Mississauga, Ontario, recorded 71 points (25-46=71) and 99 penalty minutes. His 71 points ranked third on the team overall while his assists were second and goals third. He was also second on the Monarchs with a plus-30 rating and his eight game-winning goals led the club, while during the post-season he led the team in assists (seven) and tied for the club-lead in points (with seven) in six contests.
Originally selected by Pittsburgh in the seventh-round (104th overall) in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft, Kostopoulos has appeared in 79 career NHL games, all with the Penguins, and has 26 points (10-16=26) and 76 penalty minutes.
