KINGS ANNOUNCE MULTIPLE TRANSACTIONS

Saturday, 02.02.2008 / 7:25 PM / News
LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Kings have recalled center Brian Boyle (emergency recall) and defenseman Peter Harrold (emergency recall) from the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League (AHL), and have placed forward Ladislav Nagy on the injured reserve list (retroactive to January 18), Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi Saturday announced.

Boyle, 23, has played in all 47 games with the Monarchs this season, and he leads the team with 21 goals and 11 power-play goals. He also is tied for second on the team with 43 points (21-22=43). In the AHL, Boyle is first among rookies and tied for eighth overall in goals and first among rookies and fourth overall in power-play goals. A former standout at Boston College (he captained the Eagles to last season’s NCAA championship game and took his team to the Frozen Four in three of four seasons), Boyle is a 6-6, 222-pound native of Hingham, Massachusetts. Boyle, who will wear jersey No. 22, was originally selected by the Kings in the first-round (26th overall) in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft and has not played in the NHL.

Harrold, 24, has played in 45 games with the Monarchs this season, and has recorded 39 points (7-32=39). His 32 assists rank second overall on the team (and first among all AHL defensemen) while his 39 points rank fourth overall on the team (and first among all AHL defensemen). Named to last month’s PlanetUSA’s AHL All-Star Team, Harrold, a 5-11, 195-pound native of Kirtland Hills, Ohio, has played in 12 career NHL games – all with the Kings – and has two points (both assists). He was originally signed by the Kings as an unrestricted free agent on April 12, 2006.

Nagy, 28, suffered a neck injury during the Kings-Calgary game in Calgary on January 18 and has missed the club’s last five games. He has played in 38 games with the Kings this season and has 26 points (9-17=26). The 5-11, 192-pound native of Saca, Slovakia, signed with the Kings as an unrestricted free agent on July 2, 2007. Nagy was originally selected by St. Louis in the seventh-round (177th overall) in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft and he has 311 points (115-196=311) and 358 penalty minutes in 435 career regular season NHL games with the Kings, Dallas, Phoenix and St. Louis.
