LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Kings today released their 73-game television schedule on FOX Sports West/PRIME TICKET for the 2013-14 season, it was announced by Kings Vice President, Communications and Broadcasting Michael Altieri. All 82 Kings games are currently slated to be broadcast this season locally or on national television, plus FOX Sports West will broadcast two Kings preseason games this year.
Regular season coverage of Kings hockey on FOX Sports West/PRIME TICKET kicks-off with the club’s second game of the season, the Kings-Winnipeg Jets game in Manitoba on October 4 following the Kings-Minnesota Wild regular season contest on October 3 that will be broadcast on NBCSN.
The Kings-Jets broadcast on October 4 will kick-off 38 consecutive Kings games that will air on FOX Sports West. In October, 13 games will be broadcast on FOX Sports West and all 13 games in November will also air on the network. In December, the club’s first 12 games will be broadcast on FOX Sports West with the Kings-Chicago Blackhawks game on December 30 set to be broadcast on NBCSN.
In January, the Kings play 15 games with 12 of them on FOX Sports West and the other three (January 16, January 25 and January 26) set to air on NBCSN. The January 25 contest against the Ducks is a 2014 Coors Light NHL Stadium Series contest, the first outdoor NHL game in California.
In February, the Kings play only five contests due to the Olympic Break, with four of those five games are on FOX Sports West. In March, the Kings’ first 14 games will be broadcast on FOX Sports West while the club’s final seven games will be broadcast as follows: NBCSN -- March 31, April 2 and April 3; PRIME TICKET -- April 5 and April 12 (regular season finale); FOX Sports West or KCOP-TV --April 9; and FOX Sports West -- April 10.
During the Kings’ 2013 exhibition season, the following games will air on TV: Tuesday, September 24, versus the Ducks on PRIME TICKET and Friday, September 27, versus the New York Rangers on KCOP-13. Both games, which begin at 7:30 p.m., will feature 30-minute “Kings Live” pregame (7 p.m. start time) and postgame shows.
Kings television play-by-play announcer Bob Miller and color commentator Jim Fox return to broadcast Kings games this season. Miller returns for his 41st season as the television “Voice of the Kings” and Fox, the former Kings forward, is entering his 24th season as the club’s television color commentator.
Steven Dorfman will begin his fifth season on Kings telecasts, serving as the producer, and Mike Hassan will again direct the telecasts, a position he has held since 1995. FOX Sports West reporter Patrick O’Neal is set to begin his ninth season, while reporter Alex Curry returns for her second season, providing social media reports on all things Kings Hockey during intermissions.
“Kings Live” returns to Star Plaza (outside STAPLES Center) prior to and immediately following home and road telecasts on FOX Sports West. O’Neal will again serve as host, sitting alongside Daryl Evans for all road telecasts on FOX Sports West, while former Kings defenseman Sean O’Donnell makes his “Kings Live” debut this season before and after all home and select road telecasts on the regional sports network. Fox also joins the desk to offer viewers post-game recaps and analysis. In addition, Kings beat writer Jon Rosen (LAKingsInsider.com) returns to offer updates and reports before and after each game on the road, while Curry delivers interviews and reports surrounding all home telecasts. Connected, original, fast-paced and fun, the half-hour program bring fans closer to the team with player and coach interviews, game analysis and much more.
Additionally this season, FOX Sports West will showcase the Kings off the ice in a number of original programming offerings including, “Kings Live: Season Preview Special” debuting after the exhibition game on Tuesday, September 24 at 10:30 p.m. Then providing fans with a look behind the scenes later this fall, “The Making of the Kings Ice Crew Calendar” will showcase the ladies of the Ice Crew for the third year and what preparations they go through before and during the two day shoot at Zuma Beach in Malibu. And making its inaugural debut, “Kings Weekly,” hosted by Curry, will take fans behind the scenes to showcase the lives, training regimens and more of the players. Following the premiere on Wednesday, October 9 at 10:30 pm, the half-hour program will air every Thursday night throughout the season immediately following “Kings Live” postgame coverage.
In addition, for the fifth consecutive season, all Kings games will be broadcast in High Definition (HD).
