LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Kings have re-signed forward Brandon Kozun to a one-year contract, Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced today.
Kozun, 23, had 56 points (26-30=56) and 52 penalty minutes in 74 games last season for the American Hockey League’s Manchester Monarchs. He ranked second on the Monarchs in goals, points and assists, while his seven power-play goals led the team. He also was a plus-12 and had 162 shots on goal, second on the club. In four postseason games, Kozun had two assists.
The 5-8, 166-pound native of Los Angeles has played the last three seasons with Manchester, averaging 50 points, 23 goals and 27 assists per season. Before turning pro Kozun spent four years playing juniors in the Western Hockey League for the Calgary Hitmen.
Kozun was originally selected by the Kings in the sixth round (179th overall) in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.
