LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Kings have officially qualified for the 2013 Stanley Cup Playoffs. The Kings earned their fourth consecutive postseason berth tonight after the Detroit Red Wings lost at Vancouver.

 The last time the Kings made the playoffs four consecutive seasons was 1987-93 (when the Kings made the playoffs seven straight times). This also marks the first time in franchise history the Kings have advanced to the playoffs in four consecutive seasons with a winning record (above .500) in each of those seasons.

 The Kings are 22-9-3 since February 11.

 The Kings are 17-4-1 at home this year, which is the best 22-game home record in club history (the Kings have two home games remaining).

 If the Kings secure home ice advantage for the first round of the playoffs it would mark the first time since 1992. The last 15 Kings playoff series have all started away from Los Angeles.

 The Kings will set a new record for best average attendance in club history. The club has also enjoyed 48 consecutive regular season sellouts and have sold out 77 of last 79 regular season games at STAPLES Center.

 For the second straight season, the Kings, Lakers and Clippers have all made the postseason.

The schedule for the first round of the playoffs for the Kings – currently second in the Pacific Division with a 25-14-5 record and 55 points – will be announced by the National Hockey League at a later date. The Kings will announce their postseason broadcast schedules once they are finalized.

Kings playoff tickets are scheduled to go on sale on Friday, April 26. More details will be announced later in the week.

The Kings expect to distribute an electronic version and a printed version of their 2013 Postseason Media Guide beginning Monday, April 29. The Kings Communications Department will also distribute their General Media Playoff Information procedural guidelines in the coming days.

Earlier tonight the Manchester Monarchs, the primary affiliate of the Kings, clinched seventh place in the Eastern Conference and a spot in the first round of the 2013 Calder Cup Playoffs with their 3-1 win over the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.

The Kings host the Dallas Stars tomorrow night at 6 p.m. (FOX Sports West and AM 1150).
