LEE STEMPNIAK VS THE LA KINGS SCORING UPDATE:
Lee Stempniak with a big 3 point weekend
to narrow the gap with Anze Kopitar.
Recently it has come to my attention that the Utah Sports Commission has announced their nominations for the 2013 Governor's State of Sport Awards and Los Angeles Kings forward, Trevor Lewis, is in the running for 2013 Utah Pro Athlete of the Year. This is a very prestigious award considering that the Utah Sports Commission was created in 1999 by the State of Utah "to be a catalyst in creating a sports legacy after the 2002 Olympic Winter Games." You all remember the legacy that Utah created with the 2002 Winter Olympics, don't you? So we here at The Royal Half thought we'd take an in-depth look at Trevor Lewis' competition for 2013 Utah Pro Athlete of the year... and let's be honest... we were just amazed that there were more pro athletes from Utah besides Trevor Lewis.
PAUL KRUEGER, PRO FOOTBALL PLAYER
Paul Krueger is a linebacker for the Super Bowl Champion Baltimore Ravens and he's considered one of the elite NFL Free Agents this off-season. Oh... and guess what Utah Governor's State of Sport Award Committee... his name is actually spelled "Kruger."
Are you really going to vote for a Utah Pro Athlete of the Year that Utah can't even spell their name right?
DANIEL SUMMERHAYS, PRO GOLFER
Daniel Summerhays has been a professional golfer since 2007. In 2012, Daniel played in 26 PGA events and finished in the Top 10 four times. Daniel did not win a PGA event in 2012. Trevor Lewis has been a professional hockey player since 2007. In 2012, Trevor played in 92 NHL games and finished off the New Jersey Devils with 2 goals. Trevor Lewis won the Stanley Cup in 2012. Also... Daniel plays golf and Trevor plays hockey.
JESSE WRIGHT, PROFESSIONAL RODEO COWBOY
NICK RIMANDO, MAJOR LEAGUE SOCCER GOALKEEPER
I'm sorry... I was told this award was for Utah's best "professional sports" athletes. Also... Nick Rimando is from Montclair, CA which is 354 miles from Utah.
HALOTI NGATA, PRO FOOTBALL PLAYER
Haloti Ngata is 6' 4" and 330 pounds...
... so you try telling him that you aren't going to vote for him.
VOTE: YES PLEASE DON'T KILL ME
There you have it. The nominees for 2013 Utah Pro Athlete of the Year. And don't even get me started on the nominees for 2013 Utah Sports Highlight of the Year.
Sam Gordon, YouTube Sensation is much more of a highlight than
Trevor Lewis' 2 goals in the clinching game of the Stanley Cup Finals.
Go to the website and vote early and often for Trevor Lewis. Because if he wins... he'll finally earn the nickname "Johnny Utah."
"Come to the 2nd Line, brah."
I would pay cash money to see Gary Busey play Darryl Sutter in his bio-pic.
