Anaheim Calling

LEE STEMPNIAK VS THE LA KINGS SCORING UPDATE:

Lee Stempniak with 2 points against the Phoenix Coyotes on Sunday night.

But let's be honest... who isn't getting 2 points against Phoenix these days?

Tonight at Staples Center, you've got two hockey teams that are firing on all cylinders. The Los Angeles Kings, after a slow start, come into tonight's game 5-1 in their last 6 games. In those past 6 games the Kings have given up more than 1 goal only once. Meanwhile, the Anaheim Ducks are 9-1-0 in their last 10 games and on a 6 game winning streak. Both of these teams are playing incredibly well right now and it's leaving a lot of Southern California hockey fans wondering if this will be the 1st season that both teams make the playoffs.

Nope... never happened.

With these two teams seeming so evenly matched on paper... The Royal Half takes a more in-depth look at how these two teams differ... on the internet!

THE ROYAL HALF INVESTIGATIVE TEAM™!!!

DEFENSE

The LA Kings are giving up 2.38 goals against per game while the Ducks are just a little bit higher at 2.56. So while the teams' defense seem similar on the ice... on the internet they couldn't be further apart.

While Ducks defenseman Sheldon Souray is re-tweeting about The Rock's latest film...

Willie Mitchell is re-tweeting the New York Times.

ADVANTAGE: KINGS

FORWARDS

Anaheim is scoring 3.31 goals per game, trailing only Pittsburgh and Tampa Bay for the lead league. While the LA Kings continue to struggle to score, coming in 21st overall at 2.44 goals per game. So Bobby Ryan might be 2nd in goals on the Ducks roster... but how does he fare against the forwards of the LA Kings on Twitter?

Ugh... how annoying is it for grown men to be tweeting about their roommates?!?

In fairness to Trevor Lewis and Drew Doughty, their apartment is

also called "The Boneyard" but for a much different reason.

That's fine if big scorers like Bobby Ryan and Trevor... Lewis (???) want to go at it on Twitter... but what about some of the other forwards on each team?

Listen Matt Belesky... if I wanted to follow a low-scoring left winger

who only tweets about his dog...

... then I'd follow Dustin Penner.

ADVANTAGE: KINGS

PLAYERS FROM CONNECTICUT THAT LIKE PLAYING VIDEO GAMES

Everyone is talking these days about the new stats categories that are popping up in the National Hockey League. But no one is talking about the most telling new stat... Players from Connecticut That Like Playing Video Games.

ADVANTAGE: TIE

VETERAN LEADERSHIP

Twitter has been known around the league as a young man's game... but some of the more veteran leaders have really stepped up to make an impact with Twitter.

It's great how a veteran leader on the Ducks really uses Twitter to spread

the word about organizations that do great work for the community.

And then there is Mike Richards.

Aww, that's cute @AnaheimDucks... 4 people re-tweeted your story on

Bruce Boudreau's Oscar picks. You are well on your way to becoming culturally relevant!

ADVANTAGE: FANS OF THE LA KINGS

INTANGIBLES

Sure you can talk about line matchups and Power Plays and whatever else you need to talk about how two teams measure up against each other... but it really comes down to one thing... intangibles.

And that intangible is Ben Lovejoy's twitter username.
