Each edition will feature two questions: 1) The “Shot,” which will relate to the player giving the answer; and 2) The “Pass,” which will ask the player to name a teammate. Keep checking back for new exciting editions of “Off the Post!”
Ever since we were introduced to Curious George, Clifford the Big Red Dog, and The Cat in the Hat at a young age, reading has been an integral part of our lives. Aside from the New York Times Bestseller list, there are necessities like LAKings.com and Royal Reign Magazine to fill us with endless knowledge and entertainment.
With all the travel that hockey players are subject to, reading is definitely something they use to pass the time on planes, trains, and automobiles. Have you ever wondered what it is that the subject of your readings enjoys reading? Wonder no longer!
The Los Angeles Kings, in partnership with Reading is Fundamental, will be hosting their 2nd Annual Book Drive at STAPLES Center in preparation for Read Across America Day. The Book Drive will take place Saturday, February 23, when the Kings host the Colorado Avalanche at 1 p.m. and continue Monday, February 25 and Wednesday, February 27 when the Kings host the Anaheim Ducks at 7:30 p.m. and the Detroit Red Wings at 7:00 p.m. respectively.
Fans are encouraged to bring new or gently used books with them to either/both games. Volunteers from Reading is Fundamental of Southern California will collect the books outside STAPLES Center’s 11th Street, Star Plaza, Figueroa Street and South West VIP entrances. Books collected will benefit Reading is Fundamental of Southern California.
Fans will receive one entry into a raffle for every new or gently used book they donate. During the third period of each game, the Kings will announce the winning raffle number and the winner will be directed to redeem their 2012-13 LA Kings team signed commemorative stick.
