Kings Re-Launch LAKingsInsider.com; Hire Jon Rosen

LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Kings have re-launched their LAKingsInsider.com platform by announcing the appointment of FOX Sports hockey writer Jon Rosen as the club’s new beat reporter.

Rosen, beginning today on LAKingsInsider.com, will cover the team on a day-by-day basis as he contributes game and practice reports, and by traveling with the team on the road, breaking news, writing feature stories and engaging with Kings fans on-line on the platform which originally launched in 2009 and continues to provide independent coverage of the hockey club. Rosen will also begin tweeting from @LAKingsInsider.

“I’m excited to continue the informative and accountable reporting that has made LAKingsInsider.com such a central part of digital Los Angeles Kings coverage,” said Rosen. “In recognition of the integrity with which Rich Hammond maintained the site, I’m looking forward to continuing the independent exchange of information while offering a passionate, informed fanbase a platform to share its views.”

Most recently Rosen served as a hockey writer for FOX Sports and for FoxSportsWest.com. For FOXSports.com he wrote a weekly NHL Notebook; a weekly NHL Power Rankings; covered the NHL Premiere, NHL Playoffs and NHL Draft; and he traveled to Europe during the recent NHL lockout to write on displaced NHL players.

In addition he served as a daily beat writer for Kings, Ducks and Dodgers, and he has covered Clippers and UCLA games and practices for FoxSportsWest.com. He also served in an on-air role with FOX Sports West as a broadcast analyst during 2012 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Rosen has extensive broadcasting experience on the whole. With the Everett Silvertips of the Western Hockey League (WHL), he was the Director of Broadcasting and Public Relations from 2007-11 while his work aired on FOX Sports 1380 in Western Washington. There he provided play by play on all 72 regular season games plus playoff games.

With the Silvertips he also hosted Rinkside, a show that featured interviews and highlights of Silvertips hockey on Everett Channel 21, and he appeared regularly on The WHL This Week and on various league-wide team broadcasts. In addition, with ROOT Sports Northwest, he was a guest intermission analyst for WHL broadcasts.

At WOLV-TV, Rosen was the hockey broadcaster at the University of Michigan from 1999-2003. He also served as a studio analyst from 1999-01; a sideline reporter in 2001-02; and a color commentator in 2002-03.

On the radio he has reported on the Las Vegas 51s of the Pacific Coast League. In baseball, for the High Desert Mavericks of the California League, he was Director of Broadcasting from 2005-07 as his work aired on TALK 960 in the Victor Valley. There he provided play by play of all 140 regular season games plus playoff games

He has also enjoyed numerous radio guest spots including serving as the regular LA/Anaheim correspondent for Sports Talk Weekend with Dave Sheldon, CKNW 980, Vancouver; occasional correspondent for Duck Calls with Josh Brewster, KLAA AM 830, Los Angeles; guest with Brad Curle, Sportsnet 960 The Fan, Calgary; guest with A.J. Jakubec and Jason York, Healthy Scratches, Team 1200, Ottawa; and guest with Sports Radio 1380 St. Louis.

He was born in Los Angeles and raised in Encino before graduating from Michigan in 2003.

LAKingsInsider.com began on October 1, 2009, when the Kings hired long-time Los Angeles Daily News beat writer Rich Hammond as the club’s first on-line beat writer/columnist.

The Kings, winners of two games in a row, host the Nashville Predators at STAPLES Center tonight at 7:30 p.m. The game will be broadcast on FOX Sports West and KTLK AM 1150 with pre-game shows.
