Fans can relive the greatest season in Los Angeles Kings history with The Official Story of the 2012 Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles Kings. The commemorative book contains key details and images from the run, a foreword by Luc Robitaille, an introduction from Bob Miller and an afterward from Dustin Brown, and also included is an exclusive DVD with Bob Miller and Jim Fox announcing the Cup-clinching Game 6.

Here now on LAKings.com, we share a portion of this special book as Drew Doughty – who was the top-scoring defenseman in the 2012 Stanley Cup Playoffs with 16 points in 20 games -- in his own words talks about the experience on the whole:

A lot of people were saying we got to the Western Conference Final without facing any adversity because we were able to upset Vancouver in five games and then swept St. Louis, but I think we actually overcame a lot of adversity.

We took on the Western Conference’s first-place and second-place teams to get to the Conference Final, and that was no easy task. Maybe because we made it happen so quickly, we made it look easy. But it was never easy.

In the end, we were able to be successful because every guy on our team played his heart out for the guy beside him. We struggled during the regular season and then played some good hockey in the second half of the year, and I think that carried over into the playoffs, where everybody was just clicking.

The Stanley Cup Playoffs are the most exciting time of the year. It’s the time when you need your top players to step up to the plate in order to win a series, and our best players were equal to the challenge. Everyone played with a great deal of confidence. Once you start clicking like that, pucks start going in the net for you. And when you play as well as a team as we did, it’s a lot of fun. Everyone enjoyed coming to the rink every day, being in the spotlight and competing for the Stanley Cup. It was great that we could put L.A. on the map as a hockey city.
