The LA Kings Fan Development Department and the Kings Care Foundation are pleased to announce donations of $5,000 to both the Riptide Sled Hockey Program and the Junior Reign Sled Hockey Program. The donations will be used to purchase additional equipment and sleds and cover the ice time costs.

Sled hockey provides the opportunity for many types of disabilities to play the sport of hockey. Sled hockey follows most of the typical ice hockey rules with the exception of some of the equipment . Players sit in specially designed sleds and each player has two sticks instead of one. The sticks have metal picks on the butt that players use to propel themselves . Goalies wear the same equipment with modifications to the glove . Metal picks are sewn into the backside to allow the goalie to maneuver. Sled hockey is rapidly growing in the US and both local programs have opportunities for adult and youth players.

New players are encouraged to join; detailed contact information for both programs are listed below.
